“My internship is with the Statue of Liberty Foundation and I database information about ships from all over the world that arrived on Ellis Island from 1892 to 1924. My boss is really nice because when I arrived in Newark she picked me up and helped me to find housing. I have even attended an event, the Annual Ellis Island Family Heritage Awards, where I saw many famous people such as Joe Namath, Dr. Eric R. Kandel, Jerry Seinfeld and Gloria Estefan whose ancestors were all immigrants.”

The length of your internship will depend on what the U.S. employer is willing to offer you. In a four-month program in San Diego or Washington D.C., your American internship could be as long as 12 months
