For Employers

Gain the international perspective your organization needs through hosting an American intern this summer! AIPT has a talented pool of university-level students who are eager to travel to Ireland to learn about the business and culture of the country. It’s completely free to host an intern and all you need to do is complete a short application and provide a meaningful, unpaid internship.

Why host an intern through AIPT Global Career Launch?

  • It’s completely free!
  • Interns can assist with special, short-term projects
  • Interns will bring a unique, international perspective to your business
  • AIPT will arrange housing, health insurance and an orientation for the intern

All students who are applying for an internship are from a variety of majors and will have completed at least one year of university study. They come from universities across the United States and range in age from 19 to 25. Once you decide to host an intern, AIPT will provide you with information about the student(s) whose academic backgrounds fulfills your position requirements. You will then have the opportunity to interview the student(s) via telephone or Skype to determine if it’s a good match.

The internship location can be anywhere in Galway; however, it is preferred that it be close to public transportation. The internship also must meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Provide a meaningful experience to enhance professional knowledge
  • Contribute to normal operations and/or administrative processes
  • Engage students in actual projects for the organization

Employers should plan on their intern working 4-day work weeks totaling around 32 hours/week within the specified program dates. It is preferred that the students do not work on Fridays or the weekends as AIPT will arrange cultural activities and excursions.

If your company/organization is interesting in hosting an intern from the United States, please complete the GCL Ireland host employer application. All applications are due by March 1, 2010.

The last day for students to apply is February 19, 2010.  We will begin sending student resumes in the spring for employer approval and to begin interviews. All final decisions on interns should be submitted to AIPT by March 19, 2010. This will ensure there is sufficient time to complete the J-1 visa application process.

Help your business grow while contributing to a memorable summer experience!
