When will the students arrive?
The students will arrive April 1st; however will not be available for their internships until May 1st at the earliest.

Will I have an opportunity to interview the students?
Yes, you will have an opportunity to review student’s background and if desired do a phone interview.

What are the student’s majors?
The students have various majors such as: business, English, engineering, IT, mass media etc. What majors are you interested in?

Are the students available to hire?
The student will be in the US on a J-1 cultural exchange visa and the intent of this visa is for the students to return back to their home country and likely return to their Universities.

What are their English skills like?
The students have good English skills and many have high TOEIC scores. In addition, one of the benefits of the program is that supplemental English language training is included in this program prior to the start of their internship.

How long is the processing time?
Once we receive your application we will determine which students might be the best fit and begin the placement process. However, your intern would not be available to begin until May, June or July 1, depending on their language program choice.

How soon will I receive resumes?
The first step is to receive the application; we will then begin to find the right intern to meet your needs. I would anticipate shortly after this process we will begin to give you information on their backgrounds for your review.

Do I have to provide housing?
No. You may include housing as part of the intern’s compensation. If not, it would be helpful to offer the intern assistance in finding housing.

Do I need a training plan?
Yes, this is a requirement of the US State Department. The training plan is a brief description of your internship program. This plan will outline the objectives, skills to be acquired and training activities for the intern. Please refer to the Host Employer application for the exact format.

How much do I have to pay the students?
We suggest between $8-12 an hour depending on the location, cost of living, and industry standards.

What is the minimum internship?
Six months. As the students are paying all their own costs for this program they would need at least 6-months to recoup fees.

Can I host an intern for 18 months?
The students can stay in the US for up to 18 months total. Their availability for internships will depend on the length of their English language program choice.

Do I have to pay a program fee?
No. One of the great benefits of this program is that the students and Korean Government have paid all the costs for the program upfront. The only requirement for you will be to pay the students a wage, the same as you would pay any other intern.
